Feria de Parentis-en-Born: The summer rendezvous

Ferias are a real tradition in south-western France, not to be missed. The feria de Parentis-en-Born, also known as the “feria de Sen Bertomiu”, puts bullfighting in the spotlight with several bullfights. The 5-day festivities (August 4-8, 2023) feature a wide range of other activities, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year.

Bullfights, the highlight of ferias

The feria features six bullfights. They consist of novilladas: bulls are pitted against renowned matadors and young bullfighters eager to prove themselves. The Roland Portalier arena in Parentis-en-Born, the only one of its kind in the Landes region, plays host to these shows and their aficionados.

The 2019 edition of the Parentis-en-Born feria is a special one: it’s the 100th anniversary of the town’s bullfights. On this occasion, a novillada will be organized in honor of the breeders who have won competitions. Enthusiasts can take part in choosing the bullfighters taking part in the feria (via the Ada de Parentis website).

While ferias feature bullfighting games, they are also an opportunity to celebrate with friends or family, enjoying a drink to the rhythm of bandas concerts. In any case, come dressed in white and red to get in the mood!

Events on the program for the Parentis-en-Born feria
