Museum of traditions and boat trip in Biscarrosse

What is the Musée des Traditions?

The Musée des Traditions de Biscarrosse offers an original approach. Free guided tour. It focuses on the town’s history. It’s also about local culture, but also about the beautiful landscapes that surround the city, and how humans have changed them. With this in mind, the guide will explain the formation of lakes and dunes during the boat trip. They are essential components of the Biscarrosse landscape and contain a wealth of archaeological treasures.

 

Museum of Traditions: practical information

The facility opens daily between July and August each year (9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.). However, it is closed on Sunday mornings, July 14th, August 15th and between May 2nd and June 30th. From September 1 to 15, the museum closes its doors in the afternoons between 2.30 pm and 6 pm (Tuesday to Saturday). Prices are €5 per adult and €4 for children aged 5 to 12.

 

Boat trips

Boat trips are provided by the boatmen of the Association Culturelle Biscarrossaise. You’ll then be criss-crossing Lac Biscarrosse-Parentis. One of the most emblematic circuits is Nabout. The guide will reveal the secrets behind the formation of the region’s lakes and dunes. It will also cover local flora and fauna.

During the 90-minute journey, you’ll have the opportunity to contemplate the animals and vegetation that inhabit the area. The guide will also take you to the Biscarrosse marshes. Enjoy the peace and quiet.

 

Discovering the marsh

The marshes are part of Biscarrosse’s rich natural heritage. During the walk, the guide will tell you all about its secrets, as well as the plant and animal species that live there. Surprising vegetation awaits you. Here, too, you’ll find peace and a change of scenery.

 

Circuit de Nabout: practical information

Departures for the Nabout circuit are at 10 am, 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. It’s up to you and depends on the weather. Prices are €10 per adult, €9 for children aged 6 to 12 and €6 for children under 5.

Another thing to know: the boat is stroller-friendly, if you’re planning to bring small children along. Payment can be made by credit card, postal or bank cheques, vacation vouchers or cash.
