The Flower Walk in Mimizan

By Guillaume Gruat, Gérant du camping 3 minute read Published on Updated on

Mimizan is a small town in the Landes. It’s known for its pine forests and fine sandy beaches, an ideal spot for lovers of nature and France’s south-west coast. Among the many places that showcase the region’s natural character is the Promenade Fleurie in Mimizan: a well-marked, easily accessible 6-kilometre trail just 30 km from our campsite in the Landes. Don’t miss the chance to explore it during your stay!

The Flower Walk in Mimizan: location and setting

The starting point of the Flower Walk is Mimizan’s south beach. Walkers can admire the sand dunes rising like ramparts facing the Atlantic Ocean.
From the fine sand to the pine forest, the trail continues through a rich, colourful array of flora with a wide variety of species. The same goes for the wildlife, with an incredible variety of birds.
The pines give way to cork oaks, trees typical of the regions of southern France. A waterfall and a small pond complete this natural setting, offering visitors a unique landscape and ecosystem.
The vast, lush forests border a marshland area, a natural haven for a multitude of plant and animal species. Turtles, frogs, dragonflies and aquatic plants: a long list of species just waiting to be discovered.
The walk then leads into Mimizan and its town centre, where you can discover and enjoy the local gastronomy.
